The village of St Johns Chapel is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with access to many outdoor pursuits such as walking, cycling “The Roof of England” and fishing. The property is situated ½ a mile from the  A689 and larger towns and cities including Hexham, Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham and Darlington, can be reached within an hour by car. From the Pennine Ways office in Alston proceed up the hill and turn left onto the A689. Continue along the A689 for approximately 13 miles drive through the village of St Johns Chapel and after the bridge at Daddry Shield take a left onto a minor road signposted Huntshieldford. The river will be on your left, travel for half a mile and you will find the property on the bank on your left hand side.

 

From the A1 proceed along the A68 towards the North Pennines until you reach the A689 signposted “Weardale North Pennines” join this road and travel west through various villages for approximately 18 miles until you reach Westgate, immediately before the bridge at Daddry Shields take a right turn onto a minor road signposted Huntshieldford. The river will be on your left, travel for half a mile and you will find the property on the bank on your left hand side.

The property is easily reached from the village of St Johns Chapel over the stepping stones, footbridge or ford as long as the river is not in flood, it takes about 10/15 minutes to walk to shops and amenities the village has to offer.
